01 1.6 How much antifreeze? - Adam75

Hi

I?m just about to service my 2001 1.6 Astra Petrol, does anyone know how much antifreeze or antifreeze mix (50/50 water mix) I need to add?

Yes, a 50/50 mix is recommended.

According to the handbook,

the 8v engine (without aircon) has 5.9 litres of coolant. With AC it has 6.2 litres.
The 16 v engine (without aircon) has 6.3 litres of coolant. With AC it has 6.6 litres.

If it is an automatic, then it has 0.1 less than the above figures.

But for all intense purposes, if you drain and replace the coolant, then 3 litres of coolant along with however much water it requires to fill the system will be sufficient.

Ranges from 25 to 50% antifreeze depending on whether you driving in the north pole or Calafornia. The user manual will advise. I normally mix about 33% AF to 67% water but a stronger mixture wont do it any harm.

Doube check that the antifreeze isnt allready diluted / premixed.
