This shows that for HGV's at least, they do work.

Often in the backroom you find the lorry drivers among us defending ourselves by saying that foreign lorries have no respect for the law over here.

62 lorries were found to be illegal in some way and 48 of those were foreign.

But the foreign drivers just won't pay the fines, as UK forces don't have the funds to chase their payment.

I think drievrs of all foreign vehicles should have the vehicles impounded until they pay the fine - especially French drivers as that's what they do to us!

They get clamped until they do pay that's the whole point. Missed out of this report in a paper tha's been anti-Brunstrom for years.

On The Spot Fines - midlifecrisis
Graduated Fixed Penalty scheme.

Can be applied to anyone without a valid UK address. It's amazing how suddenly the means to pay can appear when the driver is told the vehicle is being impounded.
