Well blow me - but he indicated left to exit and then carried on around the roundabout, all the while straddling the nearside and middle lanes. Then wondered why I started to pull out and got very cross indeed. I do despair sometimes.

sometimes NO signal is best. maybe they were being tailed by MI5 and was trying to throw them off the trail? or they were just not sure what to do so they did something even if it is wrong.
snip again - please stop using the auto signature thing.

This happened to me the other day. I was at a mini roundabout at Clydebank shopping centre. This car had driven down Argyll Rd and indicated that he going left into Livingstone St. I was waiting at the Livingstone St to go right up Argyll St. Now both of us had been stationary at the roundabout for 10 to 20 seconds as this is an busy roundabout. He pulls off and starts to turn left at which point I and others going left into Argyll St start to go. He decides that he does not want to go left but straight on and proceeds to blast his horn at everybody in sight. It was clear by the amount of hand gestures that he got that I was not the only one that thought he was an idiot.

I am sure this happens a lot in Stevenage and Milton Keynes areas (lots of round-a-bouts)
I have seen a few drivers in the left hand lane at a round-a-bout and then with no indication say in the outside lane of a round-a-bout and take the second or third exit almost creating an accident.
These people must see lots of accidents in their rear view mirrors !

I lost count of the number of times cars tried to kill me when joining the motorway at a roundabout I crossed on my bicycle.
They would come over the motorway and have to go 270 degrees around a roundabout in order to join the sliproad. So they would indicate right. Not a mini roundabout, but a small one.
And continue indicating right when they were actually turning off left in order to join the sliproad.
I remonstrated with the drivers on several occasions; in conversations the drivers would not accept that they should have changed to indicating left.

If you really want to see roundabout negotiation at a level that beggars belief, spend half-an-hour or so observing the Kew roundabout on the outskirts of Southport..:-)
It's a big roundabout, but has six exits all within two or three car lengths of each other and getting on, going round to your exit and then off can be the stuff of nightmares, especially during the holiday season when many drivers are new to its dangers.
The council has tried various attempts to cut down the accidents including narrowing the two lanes to try and slow motorists down, but with little success.
As it's involved with traffic flows to the main hospital, two big shopping areas and through traffic to key areas, this roundabout is always busy.
Some of the safey measures already taken can be found at:
tinyurl.com/mc6588
which includes a diagram of the roundabout and its six exits at the end.
I'm sure a BR member will know of one that's even worse though....

Beware of cars with French registrations. They love going right round in the outside lane. It's the way they do it.

Italian roundabouts are good. No matter how small the lanes joining them they all seem to be 3 lane and snooker table smooth. As such it wasn't clear what lane should be used with 50:50 split with those using lane 1 and go all the way round, and those in lane 2. Can't recall ever seeing a car in lane 3 though.
Not sure if they are expecting massive traffic growth but didn't seem to be the volume of traffic where we were (Eraclea Mare close to Venice) to justify a lot of them. Was fun for me though as despite booking the budget option of a Focus estate ended up with a 318d touring as a hire car.

The only time I don't indicate on a roundabout is when there is no-one to observe it/ I use my mirrors y'see and am aware of who is around me. oh or if the car in front is a minicab. (i hate minicabs).
