99 1.0 Timing chain rattle - Spospe

We have a 1999 1.0 Micra and it has started rattling at first start of the day for about 3-5 seconds. I think that this is the timing chain and after it has gone quiet the car runs OK. It has had its oil changed twice a year (as per HJ recomendation) and it has done 44,000 miles.

Question 1: In view of the car's age is it worth repairing?

Question 2: If I leave it to rattle, about how long have I got before something catastrophic happens and the vehicle breaks-down for good?

its nothing to worry about 44,000 miles is nothing for these engines. it be good for over 100,000 miles.
