The voucher won't get you an AK 47 - it is full auto.
Would get you an SLR (British Army version of the FN) which is semi auto but not the original Belgian(?) FN because it was full auto.

They're both fully auto if you file the trigger sears correctly. ;-)

What's this an ammo & cammo forum all of a sudden?

FN is too long to conceal under your coat. Ammo harder to get than for a Kalash too. Better accuracy at longer range, but much smaller magazine so less firepower in knockabout situations.
I'll take the AKM please.

Ugh. This isn't a good place for a large grazing animal. I'm leaving.

But mods, isn't all this drifting a long way off the point?

I had always been under the impression that the 7.62 Nato round was sold as the 308 Winchester in sporting guise. It was supposed to have been derived from the 30'06, simply shortened and shoulder sharpened. The reason for the shortening was said to be for logistics, if you have to transport cartridges by the million in a war situation makeing them half an inch shorter pays off.

No,it's the selector that can be filed, filing the sear is not advisable, you would have an L1A1 even more likely to fire when dropped.

Just wondering but I saw a car with the reg AK 57 GON - Is this the bigger version of the AK47 ??
|
There is a pickup often parked just around the corner from here with the reg A10 TOG. Change the T to a H and you might wonder if it had an internal 30mm Gatling gun.
