I know this should be in the computer thread (or maybe IHAQ)...
I keep getting Telegraph emails (I'll stop short of calling them SPAM for now) but never signed up to any. Do any other backroom members get these. Got two today alone.
Of course I could set up a rule to delete them but curious how many Back Room Members get these.
I assume it is just somehow me for now.
Actually I have just got two from Telegraph Promotions (not Telegraph Perspective).
Suggest you Blacklist promotions@mailer.telegraph.co.uk

I don't get any. You may have unwittingly "signed up" by not ticking something. What have you done that's to do with the Telegraph, and involved putting your e-mail address in? There should be an "unsubscribe" option/method to use, which is better than just deleting the things. "IHAQ" maybe better than "Computer Stuff".

Believe me I have done nothing. There is an unsubscribe option.
I posted it here because it will be seen by more - I can and will move it later as a moderator of this site.
I also work in IT so I am gathering opinion/input only. I first programmed a computer aged in 1980 so getting long in the tooth IT wise.

The title says perspective, your OP say promotions.
Could it be anything to do with inadvertently getting enlisted here? :

"I agree to receiving promotional information from this site."
btw, I do NOT get any emails from the telegraph [or any other spam] at my email address exclusively used to log on to this site.

jbif, my emails are from Telegraph Perspective. HJ has edited my initial post.
I never sign up to receive emails from anywhere and when I first joined here it 2003. I didn't want to link my email to any hacking but HJ himself eluded to this.
So if it's just me I will just lock this thread shortly.

I deleted one a few minutes ago - also had one last Friday.

But Clk Sec did you ever subscribe to receive these. I can delete them just wondering about the source. Is it SPAM? It is from the Telegraph but how did they get email addresses?

I get them sent to my moderators address, but didn't check whether it was the global one that we all get copied in on, or just my mod one. Will look more closely next time instead of just deleting it.

No, I didn't.

How about an edit of HJ's edit to make clear what bit is your own post?
I didn't want to link my email to any hacking >>
I have just checked my original [i.e. the one from when the site was hacked and which then got the phishing emails] address that was also exclusively used here. It has had no further spam or phishing mail since the first two from cahoot.

I'm just "fishing" for feedback. After the security problem here I wondered if it was linked. I'll move this to the computer thread later.

I got a couple today, too. I may well have not ticked the right box at some time in the dim and distant past, but they are certainly new to me.
Like all spam it just gets deleted without reading.

I get a variety of Telegraph emails including promotions, perspective and traveshop. Don't recall ever subscribing, assumed they were a result of membership of this site and failure to tick all the opt out boxes on initial registration.
Might read them if I'm bored otherwise just delete. No big issue; it's not like they're phishing or malware riddled. I use the same email address for pretty much everything so no clues that way.
