I have just purchased a 1996 Xantia LXTD.
I was attempting to change the keypad code and now cannot get the car to start - both red and green lights flash when I enter the code.
Either the original code or the new code I was entering.
Help!!! What do I do now?

Already posted problem with the Immobiliser. Tried to change code now cannot start using either new code or old code.
When I got the car the alarm was not working - and someone has done something to the Central Locking - it doesn't work and I have new spare parts for it boot lack has been replaced.
In an attempt to solve immobiliser problem I disconnected the battery. When I reconnected it the alarm activated. It will not turn off from the key or from inside the car using the button and the key.
It seems to me I may have to remove the alarm. Unless anyone has any other ideas. Where is the alarm box situated - someone said under the passenger seat - is that correct?

If you open the bonnet ,at the right hand side under the windscreen you will find a rubber ,press it and this will stop your alarm.
I will update you in a couple of hours ,I have to look out the instructions to change ,I have already done this before.Cheers Chas.

Sounds as if your problem is maybe a faulty security system component but do check that your Xantia has a decent battery. I once set off the alarm in my one and nothing would kill it - even using the keyswitch under the windscreen or disconnecting the battery! In the end I had to drive 10 miles to a battery supplier with the alarm going full tilt all the way. Then replacing with a new battery and locking/unlocking the dorrs once or twice with the remote cleared everything.
Anorher odd thing I remember about the Xantia was that on really cold days the 'peep' from the immobiliser keypad was very quiet - again possibly related to a lower voltage from the battery.
Good luck!

I suspect that after 3 months of the alarm going off the battery is flat

Can you not just short out the keypad wires? This worked for me on the 405 and Berlingo.
