or anyone else who knows.
What is the name of the handbook (that has been mentioned on here before) that the Police have that is a guide to the (motoring) law?
Sorry to use up forum space - feel free to delete once I've got an answer - I'll confirm that I've read it.
Thanks very much.

Hi Rebecca,
I think that's probably "Roadcraft", available from most places that sell the highway code.

S66 RTA 1991 mentions that Parking Attendants of Local Authority only empowered under the Act to FPN for parking offence and/or immbolise (clamp)
However 'Parking Attendant' has the same meaning as under S63A RTRA 1984 - which in my Stones is blank and I cannot pull the Regulation up on the Web. It would appear they may well have other powers which will seem strange as one minute they are working for LA under parking (civil) and Police for RFL/fail display etc.(Criminal)
PU : Just realised that Stones now on a CD Rom for 300 notes.
You interested selling last years copy (or this years cloned) to an impoverished old Plod?

Rebecca
Knowledge, such as it is, comes from 30 years taking down ladies particulars (at the road side and in a note book I hasten to add)
and a motely collection of books starting with a 1957 Moriarty on Police Law.
Its a very fascinating subject and as a taster may I suggest you go to :
www.janes.com/company/catalog/toc.shtml
which gives details of Traffic Officers Companion which gives Traffic Law in a nutshell.
This will point to a specific Act or Regulation which you can bring up on the Web through Government publications.
But the most prized possession is Stone's Justices' Manual 1997 (The Solicitors/Mags Clerk Bible) which was given to me by a local Solititor. This is published every year and costs plenty so join me in trying to sweethear PU to clone the COD Rom now published with it on.
One thing for sure there is no expert on Traffic Law, you learn all the time.

I'm sure everyone's dying to know, so, as one of the resident ill-mannered thugs:
So what has your "friend" been pulled for?;-)

Nothing so exciting I'm afraid.
Only a business related query.
Sorry to disappoint everyone.
