06 1.8 ESP light on all the time - Anon1
The Electronic Stability Program light remains on while driving - is there an easy way to reset this myself please?

Many thanks

No good trying to reset it. The fault light will just come back on again as the fault will still be there. You need the error codes read out, then one the fault(s) has been rectified, the light will go out of its own accord.

Being an 06, is it still not under warranty?

Thank you for replying - the 3 year warranty ended earlier this month, now the light has come on (typical!).

Depending on how well you get on with the garage, and whether the vehicle has been serviced and maintained at the correct intervals, you could try asking for an act of goodwill and see if Vauxhall will help you with paying for the fault as it's only just out of warranty.

See www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=75729 for some tips.

Thank you - I didn't get it serviced as it had been running fine until this (I know, should have, but as very low mileage I hadn't hit the recommended mileage for the next service yet ... I now know it should be at least annually apparently!), and outside warranty, therefore unlikely they will want to help. I have checked the ECN (tip for anyone reading this - hold footbrake and accelerator down at the same time and turn key to setting before your car starts - code then comes up in the mileage screen) - code is 000000 therefore I am no further forward as that indicates no fault codes recorded (which may be a good thing or a bad thing). It will be going in for a service shortly so will no doubt find out what is wrong then.

Many thanks

Why don't you get the car serviced properly and they will most likely fix the warning light issue properly at the same time? Why buy a relatively expensive vehicle and ruin it for the sake of a £150 to £200 annual service?

ECN is only related to engine (emmision) codes, a code will be stored for the esp in a different ecu, it will need reading with/by some one that can deal with it,possibly at dealer level ?

Thank you for your opinions and clarifying the ECN (I feared that it couldn't be that simple!) - the car is booked in for its service so will no doubt be able to clear this up then.
