Still dealing with the Sedona fiasco (dealers fault not car) as a plan B found a nice diesel Carens at good price. Looking at web site 2.0 common rail diesel, 140 BHP, 6 speed box, Bosch common rail system. Same spec as VW etc. Is it a VAG unit in this??

I would doubt this, as the VaG 2.0 common rail diesel has only just come out in the new A4 etc. The VaG 2.0 unit was previously PD.

I believe it's the just-superceded 16 valve, twin-cam 2.0 PD engine. Pretty good motor, economical and lots of torque. A bit less gruff and grumbly than the old 1.9 8 valve PDs.

Web site shows it as single OHC, and with a dpf, so I take it's not VAG? Or did the VAG 140bhp have a dpf? Would prefer a PD non dpf, but getting rare to find.

I bought a brand new Touran 2.0TDi last November (so 58 plate). I'm presuming it's a PD engine, but thinking about it I don't know for sure. It's the 140bhp version and does not have a DPF. DPF was an model option which I declined. So if that KIA has the same engine, I expect it could be specificed with or without. Unless the DPF models marketed when I was buying were the new CR engine, and those without were run-out PDs.

Can anyone confirm mine's a PD? Would it be indicated on the engine number or suchlike?
