No V5 at Auction - Downesi1
I've been to a few auctions recently and have noticed that a lot of cars come without registration documents.
I know that should I buy one of these cars I can send off a V62 which will take 4-8 weeks to provide me with the V5, But how do dealers get around this is no V5 is supplied with the car?
surley they would not want to wait 4-8 weeks for the document only to be registered in their name and hence adding to the number of former owners?

A dealer will price in the extra hassle with what he bids.

And so would be happy to have a car sitting around for up to 8 weekes before it can be marketing and sold? Seems bad business to me, the car would have to be very cheap to tie up the money.

That's why dealers are not so keen to bid on them. Some you can tax at a DVLA office with no V5 - it depends if the previous owner has advised the DVLA that is has been "passed to trade".

If you can't then dealer, private or whoever buys it will need to have it sitting until a V5 can be obtained.
