its one of them no name jobbies.

In which case we will all be in the dark.

Make of the engine would be very helpful - it will be Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Kawasaki, Tecumseh, Wahoo, Kohler or the like.
If the labels have come off look under the carb and around the engine & casings. You will (should) find labels or even punched numbers - Google them and you will get manufacturers details come up.
Been fixing engines and associated bits bolted to them like these for decades!
If you cannot find engine maker - rummage Ebay for power washers and see if the same make is there - if it is post the link up, I may recognised the engine from the picture.

If you've lost the dipstick, doesn't it just chuck oil out when you run it?
|
Well, I have Googled for nearly an hour and cannot find more than I have for you Telecaster - hope you get it fixed mate.
The dipsticks on these types of engines usually just touch the bottom of the engine casing and have a half inch indicator on them - so using a clean stick, measure the depth of the oil that way. They usually hold no more than 1 to 1.5 litres too. 10w40 is the usual spec.
Overfill - you will take out the crankshaft seals - underfill, and you will damage the engine.
