MULTIPLE ID's.
How are these monitored and prevented - are they even checked for?
Has consideration been given to IP addresses being shown, as other forums do to increase security and prevent individuals from having multiple ID's on HJ and answering their own questions/fuelling debates?

I certainly tried to get a second registration, I fancied being Walter Mitty! The system told me I already had an account and couldn't have another

Few domestic ISPs allocate fixed IP adresses without paying extra, so I don't displaying them will achieve anything. If you want to play spot the sock puppet here I guess you'll need to look out for consistent typos or vocabulary usage.

but you have already changed your name from tron to know1 so why would you need to ask?

I'm not a moderator but I've got away with posting a reply. I feel like I've just driven past a 30 mph speed camera at 60 mph! (something I've never done for real, I must point out)

I have been on here as Tron since Nov 07.
I have never flamed or trolled anyone.
I have never attacked anyone in the way I now see others doing and I have always been very careful with my replies and questions too.
I have been away for 6 or so months, asked PU to reactivate my id a few weeks ago - and walked in to a room that has now become very different.
This forum used to be so chatty and friendly - why has it changed so much?

I have to say I do find it surprising that people keep changing their names. I don't understand why. Even if you made a bit of a faux pas on here and felt foolish, we're all anonymous, so what does it matter. Will anyone explain.
Some people couldn't get away with a name change could they. Can you imagine a new name appearing, say 'FifiTrixieBelle' then a minor rant including the terminology "screaming carphound". Wouldn't take much to guess would it.... :-)

Spot on WP.
The HJ website does not register you by your IP address as so many others now do.
This should be done to stop the scammers, phishes, trolls and the other day release, mental head case pink fluffy dice (pre-empted the edit!) 'nutters' getting to the rest of us - that just want to talk motoring and enjoy the forum.
I have already contacted the Webmaster asking for Tron2 to be disabled/removed.

Hector Brocklebank has changed his name at least 3 times in the 9 months or so he has been on here:
aka Alistair Darling, or Honest Superhans, or Smithsonian.
