02 1.8 will this oil be ok for my car - keith565
i've recently seen a bargain for oil, Havoline Energy Oil 5W-30, however, i'm not sure if it will be ok for the duratec engine, what are your thoughts. i have no idea about oils as my car has always had a service, but i've now decided to do the basics myself, thanks in advance.

Ask your nearest Ford agent or take your handbook down to wherever the Havoline is being sold and compare the handbook spec with what is on sale. I have got a litre of Castrol GTD and the label says:- Meets or exceeds the requirements of the following specifications SAE 15W/40, API CE/CF4, CCMC D4, CCMC PD2. You need to be looking for something like that.

Halvoline is refined by Texaco who also refine the Ford Formula E which is recommended for your engine-same stuff, just different container.Formula E is part-synthetic 5w/30.

jc2 beat me to it.

This is the same stuff a Ford dealer would use in a service. It's fine.

I'm a great fan and advocate of Havoline oils which can be purchased at very economical prices from Texaco garages, as run by Morrisons.
I put their 10W-40 semi-synth in my daughter's Panda 1.1 and she thinks it has never run better.
Best wishes, Mr. H. Avoline (only kidding!).

But Ford engines require a 5/30

Havoline also produce an excellent 5W-30 oil that is ideal for Ford engines.
Best wishes from your Irish mate Hav OLine.
