Quite.
But reading between the lines, I think bb was probably quite sympathetic. Indeed the thread title is cunningly oblique, as is the OP, drawing attention to the problems some people are having without seeming mawkish or sentimental, by coming on like a heartless car dealer.
I'd call it elegant actually. Well done bb.

Guy makes a wage-dependent purchase on Saturday and loses his job on Monday?
With that sort of forward planning, I'm not surprised they finished him.
|
Wouldn't call that elegant though ifithelps. I'd call it harsh and unkind.
:o}

Just realistic - and harmless in this context.
I find it hard to believe an employee could be so unaware of the state of their employer's business.
Unless this has come totally out of the blue, but these things rarely do.

Unless he's a member know we could speculate forever.

Ifithelps, so we should all be aiming our frustration at every bank employee in the country using your theory???

Glad you managed to sell the motor on BB, and good on you for being decent about the poor chaps plight.
I've seen some downright unnecessarily cruel treatment of good folk in my industry recently, people used and disposed of like they were a cheap throwaway item from Argos.
Some management involved would make brilliant actors/politicians, threaten cajole bully intimidate woo lie...and so smiley and sincere you could weep at how bad it makes them feel.

On a brighter note, my FIL-to-be who until last week drove a lorry for a living and was then made redundant, STILL bought a new car regardless. Well, not new, its a 4 year old Corolla, lovely motor tho. He can afford it mind, he saved up for ten years!

I've been made redundant when I was fully expecting it.
I've also been made redundant when I had no idea it was going to happen. The only saving grace was that I'd already written my resignation letter and was about to hand it in when I was given a large cheque and told to clear my desk.
