93 1.9 Engine wont stop after ignition turned off - andriuxa
Just today I had very strange thing going on. My car would start as usually..no probs, but once I turn the key off (ignition) the engine wouldn't stop working. I can stop the engine just by getting first gear in and blocking the engine. Any Ideas anyone?

your solenoid is most probably not working and is sticking
last time i had this problem on a fiesta diesel a few good taps with a hammer cured it (i suspected water contamination in the fuel played a part)
the solenoid is on the fuel injection pump and will probably have one wire going to it on this year

If it's smoking at all, and its a td then turbo oil seals.

do you know if youve got bosch or lucas injection system fitted?
is yours a turbo or not?
had is got coded antistart?
was anything done to the car before this fault appeard?
which brand of fuel do you use?

Sounds like the stop solenoid to me, common fault especially on a 16 year old XUD! Try hitting it, or just keep stalling the engine.

I too would go for the stop solonoid, although you could try disconnecting the wire from it in case the 12v isn't going off. If it runs on at normal tickover speed with the wire off, its definitly the solonoid.
