hi hope some one can help have a 2005 TDCI 130 and have a severe lack of power seems to be very hesitant,surging and giving smoke out of exhaust when sitting about 65ish the power seems to surge and very little response from the engine when i acclorerate checked and cleaned the egr valve as it was solid with carbon but no change any ideas its done 127,000mls

Check for splits or leaks in the rubber air pipes from the turbo. The one below the EGR valve, down the front of the engine, is the most common one to go.

thanks found that hose split this morning replaced and running great but alas went to start car to go to work and the starter is goosed so new starter now fitted but didnt realise i would have to dislocate my hands to replace it

Was there any swarf on the end of the starter motor, where it engages with the flywheel? if so, its a sign of DMF failure.

At 127k I would clean out the EGR and the inlet manifold not a big job and well worth doing.
