Can anyone recommend a competitive deal on Fully Synth Engine OIl
Suitable for PD Engines ( must meet VW 505.01 5w-40 )
Cheapest I have found so far is Comma PD 5w-40 local Auto factors £26.53

Does it have to be fully synth? VW / Skoda dealers do semi-synth 505.01 oil pretty cheap, around £20 for 4.5 litres IIRC.
Halfords also do a full synth 505.01 oil for under £30 for 5 litres.

Millers XFE PD oil, 5 litres is £17.95 at my local motor factors.

I don't know what Skoda have been putting in my car at services but I have been topping up with Shell Helix 505.01 Semi Synth bought from my Skoda dealer. I assume this is the oil they use at service as Skoda have a tie in with Shell. I have had no problems with the oil though: the engine hardly consumes any between services.

That is a very good price,have you seen this with your own eyes ? I ask because my local Millers Stockist "Auto Care" are asking £34 for 5litres. I walked away......please can you list the location name & phone no of your stockist, thanks ken

Yes I have seen it and bought it - rude not to at that price! £34 is the full list price - try googleing "carbox windsor" - also £7.95 for the Millers Diesel Power stuff that is £12 at Halfords. Not associated with them just happy customer.

The biggest weakness of Millers oil for me is that I have never in my entire life been anywhere that stocks it. That includes the two nearby establishments listed as stockists on the Millers website.
I'm sure it's good oil if you can actually find someone to sell it to you.

I have a PD golf, my local VW dealer sells Quantum 505.01 PD oil for around £18.70 plus Vat.
