Is it just me or does the new Jaguar XJ look highly reminiscent of a Citroen C6? I've always been a massive fan of the XJ in all it's incarnations (even including the much criticised XJ40) and although I realise there needs to be a dramatic change from the current shape which isn't that far removed from the 1968 original, I cannot help thinking the new model lacks the "want one now" factor.

Presumably 1 and 2 are only interpolations of 3 and 4. Otherwise why show 3 and 4?

It doesn't look anything like a C6 or any other Citroen. It looks a bit like an XF, hardly surprisingly, but in my opinion is less successful.
I do like shots 3 and 4 though. A genuine urban tank, thuggish and indestructible looking. Bumpers all over. Pity it won't be sold like that.

Three test cars like the one in the pictures were parked at Kinross services on the M90 in Scotland on Friday.
They were just as heavily disguised as the one in shots 3 and 4, right down to Jaguar UK written on the rear number plate....
One of the cars had a tiny amount of it's dash exposed and it looks like a departure from the XF inside with for instance circular heating vents.

Me too! I'd have thought with the current general displeasure with all things capitalist & pariah status of captains of finance, the 'MadMax' version of the XJ would have found many willing buyers amongst those hedge fund managers swooping into their armoured underground parking bays in Mayfair 'of a morning.
Maybe they could have called it the XJG 20.

Are the undisguised shots real or are they computer generated guesses?
I wish car magazines aould stop doing these as they usually turn out to be wide of the mark.
I've even seen these realistic CGIs used to illustrate articles about what a hypothetical new model might look like. I mean a model that might never come into existence anyway.
Anyway, the XJ shown in the pic looks OK, but nothing like a Citroen C6, which is ill-proportioned and ugly. But the XJ doesn't look as good as the XF.

To me it rather looks like Ford Mondeo!

Maybe a slight resemblance from ceratin angles, but the C6 is still unique and unmistakeably Citroen.
The Jag is predictably following the same pattern as Lexus and several others, as Movi noticed it's a big brother for the Mondeo.
If the Jag was bebadged, no one would have a clue who made it, nothing wrong with that but the big Citroen wins for individuality.

Those side vents look more ludicrous than ever. Presumably even the 'chrome' is plated plastic. Oh dear, because the rest looks reasonable.

Dull, boring, bland, generic. I can't think of any more descriptions, I am too depressed. It just doesn't look special any more. I would say it looks like a Vauxhall, except that some of the newer Vauxhalls are much better looking. To summarise, this looks a bit like an Insignia, except not as stylish, and that is not what one should be saying about a new Jaguar. I couldn't sleep tonight, but this might send me off.
