Anybody seen or bought one of these VWs? - Armitage Shanks {p}
In June last year there was this report:-

A hailstorm in northwestern Germany damaged up to 30 000 vehicles at a Volkswagen plant, causing losses that could amount to ?100m, a spokesperson said on Friday.

His remarks were in line with a report in the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, saying that on Sunday, hail the size of tennis balls slammed into 30 000 new cars parked at a factory in Emden and at a port in the city.

It all went very quiet after that - any reliable follow-up on this story?

Not heard that report.

I was in Sydney immediatly after a major "big hail" storm, the damage was considerable. Tiled roofs smashed, and thousands of cars heavily dented with windows smashed. Definately not weather to be out in. "be out in" odd language we have.

These VWs are sought after as a result of their higher performance and better fuel economy. This results from the same principle that results in golf balls being dimpled.

I seem to recall similar happening to audi coupes, they had there roof panels and bonnets refinished and sold through the dealer network
