Thanks for that but the best of Car was probably the late 1960s - George Bishop, LJKS before he decided to become a rabbi, etc.

There was a lot of excellent stuff in the 80s and 90s too, for example Russell Bulgin's (RIP) "Rain Stopped Play", about trying to max a Lotus Carlton on the autobahn and only getting to 167mph because of rain; Colin Goodwin's 'Pistons at Dawn' were he and Brett Fraser buy two coupes for £750 and then go to MIRA to see which is fastest; Phil Llewelyn's (also RIP) stuff was also consistently excellent.

After buying these two volumes I went and bought a load of old 70s and 80s Car Magazines for buttons on eBay.Quality writing that kept me entertained for hours.Setright is great too (God rest his soul) and I have several of his books. He demands concentration but I find his stuff fascinating, especially Drive On.It was tragic that he never finished his Autobiography.
