Eurotunnel special offers - how? - Dave N
Everytime I travel on Eurotunnel and have a chat with other passengers, I seem to be the only one that's paid full whack for the ticket.

I never see any offers on their web site, apart from the short stay savers, which is only slightly cheaper. They used to be a lot cheaper at the early hours of the morning/night, but even they're not that special anymore. So am I missing something by just going to their website and paying full whack?

You should be proud of your contribution. I saw somewhere the other day that Eurotunnel has paid a dividend for the first time in history...

A wee tip. I use the tunnel fairly often. Book as far in advance as you can online. Rake around for the cheapest fare you can get within a 24 hour window of your travel times. Never been a problem in all the time I've been using it. Just turn up 12 hours either side of the booked time and it has always let me on. Except of course last September when they managed to burn it while I was in Germany.....

Last time I went I paid next to nothing - Tesco club card vouchers. Someone on here pointed that one out.

My son was bought some Eurotunnel shares by his Grandfather when Eurotunnel was first formed. These shares allowed 1 trip per year for £1 each way for the first ten years.
We used to go to France every year on ferries, often paying over £300. I didn't find out about the cheap fares until my son had owned them for 9 years. So we only had one trip on the cheap rate. I enjoyed the tunnel and regretted not knowing sooner.

SFAIK each £2.50 Tesco voucher is worth £10 against a Eurotunnel booking.

Correct AS, just booked ours for May and used £35 of clubcard vouchers which gave us £140 towards the cost of the return trip.

Yeah, we got caught in that as well. Found out about the fire by a mobile call from a concerned rellie as we were just entering Austria from Italy heading for Calais and an 8am crossing next morning. Hearts well and truly sunk!
Brilliantly handled on the French side though. We were delayed just 2.5 hrs, 1 of those being the extra time taken to cross by boat.
I am a big fan of the tunnel, mostly because I detest boats. ;-)
