05 1.3 ABS rear drum sensor ring question. - t955daytona
Hi, I have a 2005 KA 1.3 which is missing the rear sensor rings off the inside of the drum. I called ford and ordered two replacement rings but the ones that arrived appear to be too big. They are smooth and appear to be magnetic. I have checked on an older abs equipped fiesta with the same size drums and that has a bumpy (corrugated) sensor fitted which is the same size as I appear to need. Have ford given me the wrong part or is something amiss. At present the abs light is on due to no signal from the rear sensors. Will the old style ring fit my car or does the abs work differently on the later cars. There are 2 different electrical sensors listed for pre and post 2004. Any help gratefully received.

What's the part number (either XXXX-XXXXXX-XX or a seven digit code - should be both) have they given you?

Are you sure you're not comparing apples and oranges?

No they are both the same system and drum on MK4.5 fiesta (2001) and KA, The part number is F130415 which checks out on Ford parts system but is way too big to fit on the drum. Different sensor rings are listed post and pre 2004 but when you look at the pre 04 one on the ford parts system it states this is suitable for up to 2008. I thought initially that a different ABS system was fitted to 04 on KA. What I really need to know is if I fit the early ring(which defiantly fits) will it give the correct signal when I reset the waring light.

F7314843 is listed for Kas from 15/01/1997 to 01/09/2004.
F1304145 is listed for Kas from 01/09/2004.

No mention of the former being suitable for Kas up to 2008, though that might show up differently when you give Ford your VIN.

F7314843 is also listed for Fiestas (amongst other Fords) from 15/08/1995 to ~2001 (production finish).
F1304145 is listed only for the Ka and StreetKa from the dates above.

It looks Ford have sold you the later ring, when your Ka requires the earlier one. A common problem I suspect if your car was built at the crossover point for introducing the new system. The good news is that the earlier ring is about half the price of the later one.

Of course the only way to tell for definite is to check the part numbers on the control modulator/regulator in the engine bay.

If the ealier system you should see either of:

97FB 2C013-AA
YS61 2C013-AA
98FB 2M110-DA
98FB 2M110-DB
YS61 2M110-BA

If the later system you should see either of:

4S61 2C013-AB
4S61 2C013-AC
4S61 2C013-AD
4S61 2C013-BA
4S61 2M110-BB
4S61 2M110-BC
4S61 2M110-BD
4S61 2M110-CD
4S61 2M110-EA

Basically it's the difference between a 4 and a Y.

Thanks for your help up to now, I cannot read the number of the regulator as it is a tight squeeze!! It is an ate made item if that helps, I am pretty sure it is the later system as the sensor ends are black and square and IIRC the earlier ones are shiny and round!. My concern is that somehow the rings ford have given me are somehow incorrect, the inner diameter of the two rings I have been given is approx 68mm which is way to big. The rear drum listed is the same for both early and late KA's. Is there anything else listed that could fit between the hub and the ring, i.e a padding washer etc? do you have any parts pdf's you could email me? Thanks

I have just cross referenced Drum dimensions on ATE's online catalogue and it appears to me that the rings I have are may be for a Mk5 (2001-2008 Fiesta) what part number is listed for that? I have come to this conclusion looking at the diagrams so I may be wrong.

You should always check the build date(last two letters before the five numbers in the VIN);registration dates may be something else.
