Knowing there's so many fans of them on here, thought I'd let y'all know... ;-)

Don't know many fans myself, especially if you are following one being towed by a vehicle that hasn't got the power to pull itself let alone a caravan as well.

Yeah, I should've put 'fans' in quotation marks really.

Good programme though.

Turns out Sam Alper, the man behind the boom was from Forest Gate in east London, where I grew up. I know we had some dodgy characters then, but I never realised the area was that bad.

Just finished watching and I have to say that I enjoyed the programme. Although I do not like caravans (well the towing type) It must have been great fun back in the 50's and 60's to hook up the caravan and go on those nearly empty roads and where ever you fancied stopping you would. Still would not buy one.

am not a caravanner or fan, but happy for others to enjoy the hobby - but you have to admire the then CI boss Sam Alper's PR prowess: using a Mini to tow a caravan up to a snowy high point in Spain, and gaining useful publicity

Did anybody spot the 3 secs of video footage at about 44m30s into the program showing (presumably)European motoring but with cars driving on the LEFT. My guess is that was probably Sweden and the oncoming car was an old Volvo. Before they started driving on the Right in 1967.

Any other views on where it was?
