Just seen a 56 REG Mazda 6 TS2 (90k ) going for £4,700 is there anything I need to worry about especially with the mileage that high?

What's high about 90k? OK, it been done in 2.5 - 3 years, but that's nothing in a well-made Japanese car.

Depends if it's 90k of stop start round town journeys or top gear motorway cruising I reckon.

my P reg Mondeo has done 250k. I know if anything goes wrong parts are cheap. The Mazda will be my first Japanese car and yes it might go wrong or it might not...

I guess what am looking for is some sort of advice as to what to look out for especially with with the Mazda 6.

Mazda 6 v Honda Accord all pre (2007) - issieman
what do you guys think of the Honda Accord
I think the two cars on my list are now either Mazda 6 or Honda Accord

I don't see that 90k is a high mileage at all, it just makes the car cheaper.

Leave some money aside for anything that needs doing and it should be ok. My 05 Mazda 6 is on 73k and I am sure nothing will happen between now and it getting upto 90k.

issieman, is it petrol or diesel? There are things to look out for on the diesel I understand which can be expensive to fix. Still, a 56 reg should still be under manufacturer's warranty until 100k or three years I would guess.

Keep on top of maintenance, and there's no reason any modern car shouldn't reach 200,000 miles. Petrol is probably the safer bet though. While either should run reliably to high mileage, if they do fail, it's the diesel that's more likely to do so expensively.

90,000 miles is not high in the scheme of things. I have a 143,000 mile petrol turbo Volvo that still drives well, pulls like a train and doesn't need a drop of oil between services. We had a previous generation Accord 2.0i petrol on a company fleet as a pool car that still drove beautifully at 180,000 miles. Even at idle, it was as sweet as new.

I think iot would be difficult to do 90,000 miles in 2.5 years unless a large proportion of that mileage was spent on motorways or other trunk roads at generally high and steady speeds. These are the ideal conditions for keeping a car and its components in good order.

If the car itself looks and feels right for the age and mileage then it probably has a long life ahead of it.

Many years ago we bought a three year old Honda Accord with 72,000 miles which had been serviced every 6,000 miles. It drove like new and looked like new and we sold it a few years later with 109,000 miles having only replaced the radiator due to be holed. It was bought for a taxi.

By the time I got there it had been sold.
did test drive the Honda Accord Exec 2.0 but hated the plastic interior, its so low rent.
