Just got in. Guys with yellow Hi Vis jackets on pretty much every corner throughout Northampton plus cars parked up on every major junction containing two guys in yellow jackets. Everything from a Tuareg to a rusty Vectra so assuming not Plod.
Anyone know whats happening?

Sounds like traffic surveys.
Expect lunatic changes to your road junctions in the near future.
These changes will slow everybody's journey down because they will be primarily directed at letting buses through, but will fail even to achieve this since traffic engineers seem only to ride bicycles or walk wherever they go.

I think it fairly obvious that traffic engineers don't cycle very much. Nor do they walk far, except on site! Otherwise faux cycle-lane markings, less than a mans shoulder width, would not be strewn about willy-nilly, to the confusion of all.

Assuming the occupants are Government employees, in one way or another, I do hope they've all got proper insurance cover, for using their vehicles for work.
& have completed the H & S forms, to appraise & assess, any hazards, from the vehicles, or their (rusty) condition.

Seems to be a regular, maybe annual, traffic count at junctions etc. Operatives seem to be either students or pensioners armed with clipboards and mechanical or electronic "click counters". They'd normally be at Jimmy's End, Harvey Reeves Road and again at the station.
Mucked up their station entry figures by one today as I went into London from MK.
