From the Telegraph:
www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/caradvice/mrmoney/498...l
Based on Total Sales of New cars for whole of 2008:
"contenders for the worst-selling ... ... (one sale apiece) are the Chrysler Neon, Daihatsu Charade, Dodge SRT-10, Ferrari SuperAmerica, Fiat Croma, Hummer H2, Hyundai Terracan, Hyundai Trajet, Rover 75, CityRover, Smart Cabrio and Tata Safari. "

now panda diesels are bulletproof!

Can't help but notice that most of these are run out models or even obsolete, presumably the last few old stock vehicles now being sold.
It has happend before (K reg Maestro, anyone, X reg Escort, perhaps).
Frankly I am amazed that anyone bought a City Rover as new in 2008, given that it was probably built in what, 2004!

Bad journalism - how many MG ZS's were made in 2008??? None!!!
You cant base the contenders for worst selling car of 2008 on a model that hasnt been down a production line for 5 years!!!!

To reply to my own message ---
The Alfa MiTo was launched in 2009 but because its an Alfa lets add it to the 'car that nobody wants in 2008;. Mike R is an idiot

A bit silly listing Rovers since they went under some time ago. The Neon seems to have disappeared around 2006, the Charade 2007 and the Croma 2007, so it would appear these were just old stock lying around.
Bit of a non-story really. Im not sure what the point of listing specialist cars as low-sellers is, its hardly news.

What an utterly terrible article. I'd say ?**t but it would not get past the swear filter.
For example: "the Europa is merely a Vauxhall"... the VX220 was a Lotus based car like the Elise and the Europa is derived from the Elise.
and : "In theory, the cheap-looking, mass-produced Toyota iQ microcar-cum-fashion accessory should be a big seller, but it attracted only 16 buyers. To be fair, though, the full launch was held back until early 2009."
Yes it's not out yet. I wonder if the Telegraph read what they publish?

Read before they actually bother to publish might be closer to the mark...:-)
But MR hasn't always received compliments in these forums:

Talking to my boss today, his local Peugeot dealer offered him a delivery mileage 407 V6 Coupe on an 09 plate for £14k! Even at £400PA VED and <20 mpg that is a lot of very sexy car for the money.

I think the Toyota iQ is out now. I've seen two already. It's a funny looking thing. Very small but with big wheels!

"The Jaguar S-type sold at a rate of just one a month in 2008" Wow thats unreal! That must almost be a new record?

According to the car-by-car breakdown they stopped production in 2007 and replaced with the XF. Perhaps it's not so surprising then that so few were sold in 2008.

>that is a lot of very sexy car for the money<
No, it's lot of very ugly car for the money - which is why it doesn't sell, even in its home country as far as I can see.
Now if it was a 406 V6 coupe...they are still all over the place in France and a pleasure to see, but 407 coupes are even scarcer than 407 station wagons.
