Engine idles at 1000 rev but when accelerator is pressed nothing happens, the engine Throttle cable is fine.

there are many reasons but you could try something simple, I too have experienced this on several customers 406's in the past & a diesel specialist taught me a trick. Allow to tick over untill hot. Remove the diesel filter a put a bottle of Comma diesel injector magic ( halfords )in the filter & another bottle in the tank. then start the car up for approx 30 sec's then switch off & leave overnight. Start up next morning & fault often clears. I have actually used this trick 3 times with success & on some renault 1.9's that suffer with idle faults.
You may actually need a fault code read & live data check but for a couple of bottles of snake oil its worth a punt.
there will be a few along in a minuet that say snake oil does nought!
