Cigar lighters/ 12v DC Sockets

Cigar lighters/ 12v DC Sockets - Jonathan {p}
Hi All
My wife's 12v dc socket has broken. Does anyone know where i can by a replacement from. I've done some searches and all that appears is the multi adaptors. What we need is a standard cigar lighter or preferably a 12v dc socket (the ones with the plastic caps over).

I had a look on the maplins website, but couldn't find them.

googling 'cigar lighter socket' was the search I used, there was a lot more results.

sort of like that but with the correct connector at the back (2 flat pins at 90 degrees)

Would prefer a 12v adaptor rather than a lighter, looks nicer.

I was going to mention Halfords, but it must be 40 years since I bought one from them and didn't know if they still stocked them ;>)

I did not know your wife was fitted with a 12 socket, perhaps the main dealer for her model is the best replacement for form, fit, and function. Regards Peter

Alas, she is coach built. The manufacturer explained the maintance schedule with me, but made it clear that any ongoing costs/repairs would be entirely my responsibility!

Your dealer's spares dept..?.The socket,depending on the car,has different outside diameter and fittings even tho' the plugs are common(usually).

I'll try halfords, just in case, but they seem to stock more tack than useful stuff like this which tends to gather dust.

One of these would be fine but would prefer to buy from a proper shop

Type "cigar lighter" into Maplin's search engine;it comes up with plugs and sockets.
