1998 1.4 Should I stick to 15W-30 oil ? - alvermann
Hi, I owned for five years a fabulous Fiesta Zetec S 1.4 from 1998, and even though the engine seems to be working fine -it has 72000 kms in the clock-, I wonder if I should use a different motor oil since my owner's handbook recommends 15W-40, perhaps because Ford considered that the car would be driven in hot weather -Mexico-, but we have a wide range temperatures here, from the winter's mornings below 2 or 3 grades to a maximum around 20 grades... of course in the coasts areas they never have winters, but I've been tempted to switch to 5W-30, since even in summer time I never use the car above 27 or 28 grades...
Can I make this change of oil type without a problem? Would it benefit my car's engine?
I'll appreciate any comment...
