Now the snow has gone, the carnage its caused to our roads is clear. Potholes and broken surfaces everywhere. this will cost a fortune to fix.

My CRV went down a nice pothole yesterday and the result is a buckled alloy :( Does anyone know if a buckled alloy can be repaired (it is now the spare)

So 4x4s still come in handy after the snow has gone then. Big M+S balloon tyres, none of this low profile nonsense. Ideal for coping with our third world road surfaces ;-)

Some years ago when I lived in south east Kent they used snow ploughs which managed to uproot cats eyes. They left a serious pot hole - and some fairly wicked debris on the road too (i.e. the cat's eye itself, with what looked like a long spike)

Yes, that would be me! I've seen proper snow now, I don't need to see it again for another 28 years! :)

To be fair, the snow was fine - it's the ice that is still covering most of the town that I have an issue with.

Our district council has a hotline to report potholes etc, and has engaged a team of subcontractors specifically to repair minor road problems quickly.
