Tyre companies the same..
Indi tyre place wanted £220 each ( all in balance, disposal, vat )
Mobile fitting outfit came down to £173 all in
Kwik fit just done them for £163 each all in
All I did was sit at the internet for 15 minutes.
Quotes are for well known make of tyre and all asked to quote for exactly the same.

Kind of on the insurance subject, but off at a tangent......

I've just renewed my insurance through a broker. When the paperwork came through there were several mistakes, some trivial but the worst was that the reg number was wrong by one digit.
This could have been a problem since I was perhaps not insured for a few days while this was corrected.

The revised paperwork came together with a demand for £96 because my number of years no-claims had to be changed from 9 to the correct 5.

My broker admitted that it was thier fault that the correct data had not been forwared to the insurance co. and agreed to pay the additional amount, whilst saying that it was most unreasonable, and in no way reflected any percieved increase in risk.

A further set of paperwork arrived but on checking, the car variant was still wrong and might affect a payout if required. So in this case I contacted the insurance co. direct. They informed me that they would change to the correct variant and that it would cost £36. I complained that this was excessive for a mere admin change and refused to pay.

Having contacted the broker he said leave it with me..........I'm still waiting to see what happens.

He did explain though that since a lot of insurance companies are in effect run by banks, they are all trying every way possible to charge thier customers more.

Please take note !

I did a quick compare on this year's premium when the renewal came through. None were cheaper, like for like. So I called my ins co, said I thought it was a bit high, what could they do? Without too much persuading they knocked off £30 (10%) off. (And what good value it turned out to be...)
