hy everyone hope someone can shed some light on this prob.

2weeks ago flywheel knackered, had new one done.ouch.

started to have probs with immob system. car when locked going off at night. cant remedy it so in garage not locked. then car refusing to start.

turn key all lights on can work all electrical stuff but wont turn over. 1st thought immob was responsible in some way so id leave car for a while and on return would start 1st time no probs. then started to do this more frequently and could leave for a day and refused to start so figured waiting for immob to reset wasnt what was happening as would start just 5mins

. i would drive somewhere get out come back 10 mins later ...not turn over. spoke to garage who said firstly i may need a new starter motor? i have experienced one going before but have heard the clicking of solanoid? first and this isnt present here. its as if no electrical power is getting passed the turn of the key.

i asked garage if they think a wire may not be connected properly... they kinda said its poss but i feel they are after putting a new starter on it and i would rather explore more cheaper routes first!

desperately need pointing in some direction... have read ERG valve sticking etc? all advice welcomed!

It's an EGR valve and it wouldn't do this.

hi is there power to the starter as vx run lights and ingnion off the battery it self. have they left off the engine earth
you could have a broken starter lead
is the car with a spaner though it staying on when you try and start the car
any good garage should tested this after you returned the motor under complant

cheers on the valve reply.

the spanner light comes on, stays on for 5mins then goes off .. no loss of power. an earth wire has been mentioned somewhere else but where would i look... /?? is it a case of getting someone with a little more know than me check it out. it would make sense why its so unpredictable.. would you be thinking it isnt the starter motor?

When started? That sounds like a glowplug fault. You need to get the faults read anyway.
