Who drinks de icer ? - Mr X
Some of you out there must be drinking de icer. Just bought a bottle from Sainsbury's and on the till receipt it says ' Think 21 . Cashier Confirmed Correct Age " !!
Yes, my age was checked for a bottle of Sub Zero de icer.

I parked up at our local supoermarket, reversing into the space. Whilst loading up the car I saw all manner of empty bottles, cans etc amongst the bushes - none of which were alcohol, but all contained solvents of some sort.

The bushes have since been cut back. Local chavs will try anything once.

I got ID'd at Halfords after buying a can of deicer. Clearly, I look dodgy.

I'm afraid I wasn't terribly polite since I had to go back to the car for my wallet ("So, now I've proved I'm over 21 it's perfectly OK for me to go outside and snort it?").

The only thing worse than being hassled for ID is not being hassled because you are clearly too old and haggard to be under 21.

My son worked for the company that developed Bitrex - a chemical that's put into lots of hazardous chemicals such as sink cleaner, wash up liquid etc - makes the stuff taste absolutely awful. Even a microscopic drop on a square of chocolate - the taste stays in your mouth for hours and absolutely nothing will shift it!

De-icer tastes much nicer, the 2007 vintage was particularly well-regarded round these parts.

You still have to, I bought some Liquid Poly glue yesterday and it even has the warnings on the side... but I'm the Dad now so got it without any problems! Kids these days, eh!

Just keep an eye on the sniffing, I did it casually, e.g when my parents were not looking I would have a very quick sniff but as a kid that was my only vice :) never touched tobaco, drunks or alchohol.

I think there is a country where they do drink something like de-icer but I
think it may have been anti-freeze or something instead. It was in the news because

Austria, a few years back - wine tainted by antifreeze.

I know i went out one night, in my foolish yoyth, and indulged in far far too much tequila (on promotion)
Woke up - or should I say regained consciousness - at lunchtime the next day feeling like death, and was taken by a very concerned father to the local hospital... all the time cursing what a complete *fluffy dice* I was for getting so stewed.
As it happens, the hospital had seen a LOT of people that day, all with the same symptoms, and all had been at the establishment drinking their promotionla tequila.
Turns out it had a large amount of wood alcohol in it.
Took me days to recover. Not nice at all.

Meths drinkers are common here - the 'cure' for those who OD is to be tied down, and given a drip of alcohol...
Apparently the hangover after that is quite something.

i'm sure another england prop forward, much in the news this week, thought it was a "good idea at the time" when he *allegedly* sniffed some colombian dandruff recently.
