The injection pump timing hole is like the one for the camshaft but smaller and unthreaded. Use a 6mm drill shank as a locking pin - there is a slot in the pump hub (not the wheel) and a corresponcing hole in the front of the pump body.

Make sure you fully understand how to set the vernier adjustments for the camshaft and injection pump - tension the belt with the wheel bolts loosened and check that they finish up somewhere in the middle of their slots.

The whole is at about 5o'clock on the deisel pump, i found mine using a mirror and rotating the pump, plus it goes in quite a long way, so make sure you have something long enough

1997 1.5 Timing a diesel - nathan35uk
I recently had the cam belt come off due to a water pump faliure ,not because it was froze !! , i know the engine could be knackered but i tried a new pump anyway , did the timing as per holes and bolts , when i tried to start it there was no knocking or anything just sounded like it wasnt getting diesel n not firing ,is it just broken or could i have the timin out , i cant see how u can with the timing holes in the crank cam and diesel pump .. i undid the pump bolts before tightening the belt then did them up afterwards .. ta ??
