04 1.5 Service + airbag light intermittently lit - VWJohn
I have a Renault Kangoo 1.5dci van that since buying used 6 months ago has had this most annoying fault. Completely randomly the service light and airbag light will illumiinate together, sometimes staying on for hours, other times for seconds. The van drives superbly with no obvious faults and i'd love to know how to cure this fault as it's driving me mad!! Any help much appreciated! Thanks.

I too have one of a similar age with 40k which has a similar problem. The lights both come on about 200m after I start driving ( engine cold or hot ) and usually after I have ised full lock. They both go out after aboyt 30 seconds together. My local independent garage who has serviced the vehicle since new can't get a fault code! ( I thought it would have been stored ) and suggest a visit to a main dealer which I have so far avoided as everything is running fine. Any suggestions out there?

After some internet investigation I read some threads mentioning a ribbon cable that runs from the steering wheel to some location where it must conect to a management system I guess?? Where you mention the lights come on often at full lock could this ribbon cable have a loose connection? If so does anyone have any idea how to gain access to it and how to trace faulty wire and fix. This may be a complete red herring so if anyone out there can help - PLEASE do. Thanks again.

Had same problem with my kangoo, put to Renault dealer and was told it needed new wiring loom under driver seat and wanted £64 to repair so took it home and tightened terminals on loom and vacumed the pressure switch under the seat has been ok every since.
Problem was made worse by diffrent drivers moving the seat .

Had the same problem myself. There is an Seatbeat tension switch under the seats, in my case the passenger seat. Disconnect the block of wires from the main block, and give the inside a good blow with an air gun or maybe a hair dryer. This solved the problem 100% for me.
