What did you get this year?
Mine was a bit less 'technical' this time - a Top Gear book and calendar.
|
I did ok :-)
Ive got a Garmin Nuvi 205W sat nav - no idea how good that is in the scheme of things, will find out later when we go to Norwich!
Also got latest JC book, a book on Formula One circuits and a Top Gear Challenges DVD.
Got some fab other prezzies though, thes best being a National Trust book on country houses, the pictures are superb and its packed with great info on the history of the places.
|
I got a pair of wireless headphones. Not strictly motoring, but being able to listen to some decent music will help keep me calm when I'm skinning my knuckles doing some "simple" mantainence task that takes all day on modern cars.
|
I bought my kids a Guitar Hero with drumkit for the Wii - I am now going to go out for a drive....a very long one!
It's like having the builders in.
Season's wotsits to all

Blimey in my house the kids wouldn't get to play with that till after boxing day, They would have to wrestle it from my cold dead fingers!
Son and I have a voucher for a Half day Land Rover off road challenge!
|
|
No car related gifts this year, but I have drawn the short straw for ferrying people home after the Christmas dinner, which isn't quite what I had in mind...
|
|
'The Road to Gobblers Knob' - a book about travelling from Chile to Alaska by motorbike. Should be a good read!
|
|
A Black & Decker autowrench. I must stop pressing the open and close button or I might end up breaking it before getting a chance to use it properly.
|
Top Gear anthems (Billed as The greatest ever driving songs) on CD . Both cars I drive do not have a CD player between them. I'll have to do some "air driving" from the armchair or record the CD to tape cassette.
|
Motoring:-
A Tomtom XL
The latest JC book
Top Gear Book
A trolley jack
A woolworths heated ice scraper
A car heater
Transport related (so still on topic)
100 years of transport - 3 dvds of buses, trams and trams
A book on Manchester trains
|
Best one is a single seater racing day at Silverstone, top quality present - very excited about that thanks to my better half. Got an umbrella with a gearknob for a handle, it's small enough to keep in the Mazda which is very handy.
Distinct lack of TG/Clarkson stuff this year, but in fairness I did get a boatload of that for my recent birthday.
Also got a Garmin GPS for my pushbike which although isn't motoring strictly is still pretty cool, can't wait to try it out. When the weather's better :-)
Very best Christmas wishes to all
Lee.

I got a very useful car gadget - a wind up torch with three super bright LED bulbs plus a USB type lead and adaptors for charging 5 different models of mobile phone. One minute's winding gives 15 minutes of light or one minute of phone talk and, being USB, you can use the lead to charge the phone fromyour computer, desk or laptop. A great Gizzit. Hope you all had a good day and got good things in your stockings!

Got a pack of TWO torches, which work on the shake-and-shine principle.
Apparently a minute of vigorous shaking will produce an hour of light.
I'll keep one at home and one in the car, I think.
The nippers got a multitude of battery operated stuff, so the rechargers were working overtime - great fun racing a RC BMWX5 against a mini cooper up and down the driveway!

You must get it AE, it's fantastic, spent all day trying to sing Overkill and Living On a Prayer because I was useless on the drums so got lumbered with the mike:)
Does a How to Pass Your Bike Test book count?
And an Ace Cafe T Shirt
A Barry Sheene Paddock Jacket
And a Jamie Whittam Book?
Ah yes, I bought Mr PDA a car wash kit for the CRV but I know he'll use it on the Fazer.

Two motoring presents this year - though I think they will win the "least interesting motoring presents in the backroom" award.
1 Halfords sponge.
1 set of Halfords jump leads (though I note that they are now called 'booster cables').

>>I think they will win the "least interesting motoring presents in the backroom" award.<<
I think you can safely clear a space in the trophy cabinet for that!

Well i did well.Top gear greates anthems & ...................................... a remote contol stig driving an Ariel Atom....Cool!
|
I was a bit short of little fun presents for SWMBO - and spotted an unopened canister of screen wash sitting in the back of my car...
Well, she needed some for her car - forecast for early Jan is very cold, and the roads round here are filthy.
|
|
I would imagine that went down nearly as well as the wheelbarrow I once bought my wife for her birthday...
|
I got a Clarkson DVD and a radio controlled Top Gear go-kart complete with Stig figurine. :-) Does brilliant doughnuts on the kitchen floor!! :-)
|
|
About the only motoring related present I got this year is a very, very, very well worn car air freshener. The 1970's type that looks sort of like a traffic lights with the freshener stuff in the middle amber bit!!!!
Both myself and my father detest the things, so this has been going back and forth between us on Xmas, Birthdays and Fathersday for at least the last 15 years!!!! Silly game really!
|
Got a pair of neoprene, fingerless gloves from Erin Dors to wear under my overgloves on the Honda 600. Supposed to keep the heat in. Look forward to a New Year test run.
Also got load of vouchers for the local model shop....birthday on Monday so watch this space. This year only bought for partners and under tens......everyone happy with this.
Didn't make a profit tho'...never do.
