Good idea to have clearly marked posts, walls etc when returning to one's abode in dark or gloomy conditions (motoring link firmly established.;) whether by reflectors or lights.
This blue light thing seems to be spreading Henry, there are some blue light ice crystals hanging from a bungalow as i approach chez gb and i have to use my right hand as a blinker as i go by, makes driving a chore as one travels down the road doing a passable impression of the queen whilst covering one's peepers from the glare of the things.;)
To my amusement they seem to be multiplying on trucks too, i am given to understand it may be something to do with the side one bats for....

I'm glad I live in the country - mind you I saw a twonk in a Focus with blue sidelights today. privacy glass and fogs confirmed the diagnosis.
motoring link firmly established - sort of size zero I think...

That's me, but I drive a bog standard Kia Pride. ;>)

I was referring to the thinness of the motoring link !

Its the housing equivalent of Blue VW instrument lamps. Supposed to generate an air of "quality"
wow hows that for a motoring link

from the OP......' to have flush light units installed at knee height, in the pillars at the entrance to ones abode'
I was referring to the thinness of the motoring link ! (PU)
From where Im sat, this thread IS about motoring!
Surely the reason people fit these lights is to assist their driving into their driveway?
Or they coming down after Xmas?

Sorry. In my rural isolation these fashion icons haven't been seen yet. Maybe you're right. Still very thin though.

I have to say my blue icicles look very nice and do a good job of drawing ones eye to my 15 foot high inflated and lit up polar bear, with its carefully arranged entourage of lit nodding santas and kicking reindeer.
To my amusement they seem to be multiplying on trucks too i am given to understand it may be something to do with the side one bats for....
Yes as well you know GB.
Honestly truckers are as bright as my dogs buried bones you know. I love the trampers that leave the back doors open while laid up to say "I am empty - nothing to nick" Do they not realise that this then means that when they have the doors shut this means "rob me"
Or do the open back doors mean that its load of illegals has just done a runner?

I do wonder sometimes about my compatriots, the doors are left open so they won't be disturbed by the sounds of stanley knives cutting through curtains or bolt crops snipping padlocks/seals.
But then those same trucks are parked in quiet peaceful places like a layby on the A14...its scary sometimes.
I'm heartened in your alternative personality role you are not averse to a bit of offside batting either...;)
I remember a time when blue running lights were the sole perogative of the queen....ah now i think about it.....

A friend has these things lining his drive. An older property with a remarkably long otherwise unlit drive. The lights are solar powered and just shove into the ground like tent pegs. I think he got them from a petrol station fairly cheaply a while back. He has a lot of them and they certainly do help to mark out the edge of the drive.
Much to his annoyance and frankly to everyone else's amusement they are regularly to be found (especially early on weekend mornings) re-arranged on his front lawn spelling out rude words.

Humph - what a grand idea !

The ones I am commenting about are not solar versions but mains versions and are quite bright (100W ? ).
They appeared several months ago so are not a Christmas thing.
Apart from being IMO, naff, suddenly seeing a bright blue light that low down gives you the impression of an accident beacon until you realise it is not flashing.
I am pleased to note, that to date, others on the forum have not seen them.

Well done Henry another thread rescued from non-motoring oblivion. Argument to keep it has gained some weight.

Only goes to show how few Telegraph readers live in Essex!
Unfortunately, in line with many other social trends, blue lights are slowly moving westwards.
They do have the marginal advantage of slowing non local traffic thro the village.

It'll never happen here- given the reactionary parish council we have here. The provisional armed wing would be out after sunset on the second day. An "incomer" was rude enough to paint his house the wrong colour one year - boy did he regret that !
