1999 1.6 petrol - misfire at idle - kemp42
Engine sounds rough at idling - as if on two cylinders - but seems OK when above idle speed. Plugs and coils have been garage checked and declared OK. Garage suggests valve burning but says compression check shows all cylinders even - any suggestions?

does it come up to temperature ok? I.e. temp gauge works? Might be coolant temperature sensor?

If its a 16v i would still say its one or more of the coils starting to fail as a rough tickover is the classic symptom when they are on their way out - trust me i had enough experience of them when i had my Megane !

Try to find coils that are made by Beru, (i would recommend changing all 4) and always fit genuine Renault plugs.

It's an 8 valve with a single coil pack ?
