Still good to buy a Vauxhall? - johnnyblack
Hello,

Picking up a Vauxhall tomorrow - is it still worth going ahead considering the state of GM in the States?
What if Vauxhall go bust - hopefully not!! what about spares and warranties?
I cant believe the predicament people are in, at the moment what with Woolworths and everything - and I feel for them.
My question is probably selfish considering how many decent people are suffering due to the so called credit crunch.
I suppose if people dont buy cars etc - then how do we get out of this mess?
Regards

As all the other manufacturers are in the same boat, I'd just go ahead and enjoy it!

I wouldn't be surprised if Vauxhall / Opel are sold off and become an independant car company. And they will probably be better off than under GM. Same could happen to Ford of Europe - they could end up being sold by Ford of America.

It's happened - GM sold their stake here back in the 'old dark days' to a company called Delta. Still going strong.

GM will get a bail out next week by the US government.
As for spares, if the worst did happen they'll be roughly 30 years + worth of them! Rememebr rover? also most parts are available via 3rd parties anyway.
