I saw this MINI on Sunday in Nottingham wrapped in cling film with notes on paper under the cling film saying DO NOT MOVE and the logo of the Police Nottinghamshire Constabulary. I took the pictures as I drove using a telephone so they are a bit blurred. Why would they do this?

Preserving the evidence?

The notices look as if they are over the cling film to me.

It's a drunken prank. Owner perhaps unaware and the police are sick of getting calls about it hence the notices.

Case closed.

Appeals anyone?

Christo - I really did LOL at that, I remember doing art at school and thinking, who is this loon who keeps wrapping stuff?

I don't want to sound like the finger waggers and dripnoses who poke holes in other people's threads, but you took a picture on your mobile when you were driving and that's why it's blurred?

by the way, In some European countries I used to see cars parked on the road totally covered with opaque tarpaulins or car-shaped covers - would that be illegal here, in respect of the tax disc being covered up (or lack of)

Walk through the multi-storey parking at Joburg airport and you'll see quite a few cars covered in clingfilm. It's sold as a theft/break-in deterrent.

Reportedly the scroats don't like the hassle and time involved in ripping off the clingfilm to nick your car or liberate the ICE.

Not sure if it works but someone seems to be making a few $ out of it.

(possible theory and must'nt be taken as fact in any way or held against me in the case its wrong)

it looks like the car has been stolen and used by joyriders and its probably been wrapped in clingfim to secure the vehicle due to damage to door locks / ignition etc till its collected

"Looks like what they do to case at the airports. Has to be a joke."

Now THAT is a good idea thanks - I will do this when my wife takes cases abroad.
Also a good idea if the lock is broken on a car or something, just wrap in cling-film!

Have you not seen these people in European airports put your case on a revolving platform and proceed to wrap them in clear plastic. I assume its to ensure nobody take a look in. Not that cheap either.
