Bought a set for SWMO Getz as all three rubbers were splitting. Refills and their end clips appeared to be too wide for existing blades. Could not get the new blades to fit on the arms , carefully checked that I'd selected the correct adaptor.
Eventually removed the new rubbers and fitted them to old blades. Fed up as I've probably spent too much effort and money on the job.
Had a similar problem with a 1997 Corsa recently.
I conclude the universal adaptors are not what they seem. I'll ask an assistant to fit them next time.

Never had the slightest problem on any of several makes of cars.

Yes, a few years ago, never used them since. How much are they charging these days? must be £15 each by now? I always get them online now.

I had a similar problem a few years ago, I went for Bosch next time around.

If you go back to the store they will usually go out of their way to help find the correct adaptor. Ask at the parts counter, not the cashdesk. They keep a box of adaptors and might well have one that was not included in the box with your wiper blades.

Agree, I find they are supportive in such situations, they changed the Halford blades to Bosch for me, whichever option I preferred.

Just wander off at a tangent ( most unlike me I know....)
I always used to buy Halfords wiper blades and they were always OK....but...one day I needed some and happened to be near our local Ford dealer. Popped in and bought some original equipment ones and they were quite a bit cheaper than the Halfords ones. They have subsequently been on the car for over three years and more than 100k miles, still doing fine.
Not sure if that proves anything except it might be worth checking your main dealer.

That was my experience as well. The OE blades are easier to fit and last longer (as well as being no dearer) than either Halfords or Bosch.

I have had the adaptor problem with Halfords blades but managed to reuse some plastic bits from the old set. Last year I bought Bosch, from Halfords but they only lasted about a year.
I have just replaced with an Aldi set at £4.99 which are fine at the moment so I bought some for stock! They lack the aerofoil though so I have to keep the speed below 100mph ;-(
