3) What did the colour blue have to do with cars - where we were staying, can you define those two elements precisely? (pic of that + clue if necessary later.

1/ Prosecuted by HK police for lack of tread on tyres / no rickshaw licence
2/ Mirror, signal, maneouvre.
3/ Colour of police cars at Central police station where you spent night in cells

I just lost the comprehensive answer!
3 Blue Taxis on Lantau Island - staying at Disney?
2 Caption as a Confucius saying
Know the self to be sitting in the chariot, the body to be the chariot, the intellect the charioteer, and the mind the reins.
1 You tripped and tipped the driver onto the floor?
Photo taken looking North NNE probably around/after midday , but I cannot identify the red topped buildings altho poss Ferry Terminal ( but the direction seems wrong?) From the Peak .
The method of the window fixings in the restaurant, and steel barriers all agree with pictures from the restaurants!
I have never been there, but guessed location very quickly.
Must get out!!
pmh (was pmh1, pmh, and peter !)

I think that this is Silvermine Bay - and (being from Yorkshire) you probably stayed at the eponymous hotel as it is the cheapest on Lantau!
It was on my original list of hotels for the first answer attempt but I decided to go for Disney.
This all assumes that my original answer of Lantau was correct.
Royalty link still escapes me!

I have an answer, I think, (a little convoluted however), but I will refrain from posting to give others a chance to work it out.
I have temporarily enabled my profile with email address, if you like to email me and post that you have done so, I will then send you a message and delete my profile.

Halmer and others - I have put one of my email addresses temporarily in my profile.
Incoming only - but it might influence further clues ;)

Sorry wrong thread - I meant pmh2 & others ;)
er feedback...

Incidentally - this is my family out in the Far East, the four females and the chap wearing yellow and green.
Defining who SWMBO is? Not obvious - maybe - but its not part of the quiz ;)

Ahem, it is now 11.53 on Monday ....... have I missed something?
Last link does not work for me - not authorized.

The first two links in the thread are back up again for 24hrs. (I have put my other teeth in hoping to make myself more attractive across the pond - and for `wallpaper` in London art acadanenemas)
As you can see it turned into more or less just pmh2 and me, which we continued by email following a query. I will copy and paste part of my last email to Peter for the clues and result.
1) Colour of Taxis - at the airport blue taxis serve Lantau island and only blue taxis are allowed there.
2)The second photo was taken from our room in the Silvermine, overlooking the bay and facing due west to HK harbour.
3) Hidden data to confuse? - I`m just learning! Now I know it can be done I may strip out the data.. ;)
4) The camera is a Samsung Digimax D73 - can`t remember how many mega pixels - approx £100, a year or so ago.
5) Red buildings - As you will know the actual ferry terminals are two story buildings on the waterfront, serving the upper and lower decks of the ferries. Those buildings are across the road, but I can`t remember if they are owned by the ferry companies.
6) the photos - yes, removed them due to the thread disappearing.
We were in HK earlier this year visiting (Chinese) family in some of the high rise tower blocks. The build quality inside the latest blocks is astounding, with marble floors, stainless steel latice work, secondary security doors and totally spotless in the corridors. These can be sectioned off -for personal use, again with stainless laticed doors.
Many of the cars were Chinese (and totally unfamiliar) and the exterior paint quality and style looked first rate. Discussing all of this and the UK, led to some interesting perspectives.
The UK is just not in peoples minds, it`s similar to our (UK) perspective on, for example, New Zealand. They know the UK is there, but just as its at the edge of their geographical map, it`s also at the edge of their minds and not on the `radar` as anywhere important to their country.
That petro- chemical smog, drifting in from mainland China, really is persistant and unpleasant though and it made us really appreciate the clear air blowing in from the west in the UK.
|
and more...
about the Silvermine hotel - the `shaft` comment referred to that. The "felt like royalty on arrival" clue linked with arriving in a `Crown` - Toyota Crown taxi that is - as you know, only blue one`s serving Lantau Island.
There were clues in the 2nd pic of the bay too. Ferry at a terminal - top left, the position of shadows of the trees - late afternoon or mid morning?. There were people sitting on the beach - so more likely late pm. Given the `blue` clue, Lantau, bay facing almost due West to Hong harbour and the peak.
I`m removing the pics from my site 24hrs from now to make room for others - so now is the chance to discuss!
Regards and thanks for participating

and why did you have the "makeup" on?? - or is that how you always go about in public?

What makeup?
I refer you to my caption post above which, as HB points out, had a marginal side in terms of taste but certainly wasn't meant to be offensive. Not to the Chinese anyway, just to us. We all look the same to them with our bulging funny-coloured eyes, huge beaks, lurid colouring and hair sprouting from every orifice although often missing from the top of the head... I repeat, what makeup?
:o}
PS: Absolutely loved the makeup oilrag.

>>1) What happened next
Billy, I let the handles go up as though it were a hay cart and nearly tipped my passenger out.
Caption? what do you all think?
No worries Lud- about 60% of my remaining family are Chinese.
I changed my make up and no one noticed? Different on the first pic to before the weekend ;)
Because although the Mods control the horizontal and the vertical - I control the pictorial through my own existing links ...unless deleted by the Mods of course, using the horizontal or vertical..
Anyway Lud, Deepwith (a US citizen I believe) posted as above last night and I had an underlined note by email that the thread was back from rtj.
I re - imaged myself accordingly for US consumption with whiter teeth and am expecting to be a desktop Idol across the Midwest by this time tomorrow.
;-)
No one got the `Crown` taxi motoring link.........

Dang.. (practicing) deepwith is in the New Forest... Same thing as the Mid-west really though isnt it? especially when contrasted with West Yorkshire.....

I did notice of course oilrag. I liked it both times. You must give me your beautician's phone number.
In my list of European racial characteristics from a far-eastern point of view, I forgot to include long, crooked, broken yellow fangs and bad breath. Good to see you have included the fangs at least in your second makeover...

"Good to see you have included the fangs at least in your second makeover.."
The teeth were modified only in the first makeover Lud ;-(
