OVERHEATING MYSTERY SOLVED
An overheating Peugeot 207 was found by Carabinieri to have ingested a stray dog, but only after the car had stopped with head gasket failure. Neighbours of the car's owner, a Signor Menozzi, were unsympathetic when interviewed.
'The dog's survival shows how slowly he must have been driving,' bawled Achille Varzi, 16, over the noise made by his revving scooter. 'In my village, Signor Menozzi is called "Il Mimserino". He never goes above, I can hardly say this, 130kms an hour, believe it or not. The man is an absolute menace. There are many children here. What will they think?'
After racing twice round the square, Mr Varzi stopped and added: 'When I hit a dog, it is totally vaporised. Not even blood on the road like some of my mates leave.'
