Having a Senior Moment! Seniority on this forum?? - JohnX
Just noticed that I have completed 5 years as a member on this forum..Do I qualify to be a senior member ??! if that means anything!

On a more serious note , just wondering how many members are around from pre 2003?!

08/05/02 for me!

What a coincidence - same date of 08/05/02 for me.....just checked.

A lack of a senior moment makes me remember that this has been discussed before (some time ago though) 7.5.02 - if memory serves me right that's when the MK2 Website went live so there will be a few of us in May 2002.

27 July 2002 for me.

07/05/02, but I was on the Mk1 version before that, some of that time posting under my real name.

Around the same time, I think.
I recall the hi-jinks of the old site, where one could change nicknames easily, and thus write some really funny stuff and attribute it to another member.
Like Mark (Brazil) and his love for all things Freelander...

Back end of 02 for me. Must have been after Mk1 I guess.
Fond memories of tHe Growler.

I remember only one forum until the latest facelift, but recall there was plenty of talk as to the old forum, what to do with the "Back Room Archive" etc.

there was plenty of
talk as to the old forum what to do with the "Back Room Archive" etc.

One wag offered it for sale, as the very first item in the 'new' HJ For Sale menu.
"One archive, slightly used, any reasonable offer secures"

April or May 02, but under my own name as were many posters at that time.

Remembered some familiar names, dont see them nowadays
like Aprilia,Tourvanman or Renault Family

"rilia,Tourvanman or Renault Family"

You'd be surprised !
Having a Senior Moment! Seniority on this forum?? - mfarrow
Tourvanman or Renault Family

I have a feeling both these users have an alter ego

;-)
Having a Senior Moment! Seniority on this forum?? - JohnX
Should have expected that , after all, how long can a user name like Renault Family last..

Only as long as the cars longevity ,which because its a Renault may not be long! :)

Some time previous to Sept. 2001 - I was actually logged in to the Backroom on the staffroom computer when the coverage of the 9/11 attack began.

I remember that. I don't think I ever saw a thread expand so fast as the breaking news got worse and worse.

Looks like I've been here since 14/12/00. It's still the place to be for sensible motoring discussion.

Come back, Aprilia. I hope you're still out there somewhere.

I fall into the 8 May 2002 net, but joined the mk1 forum well before that

I was on the earlier forum under a different set of initials, in fact I have been here since HJ was in short trousers.

Been here since at least 2001 - remember sneakily logging in on dial up machines at work before we had desktop internet access.

I was a year out on my earlier claim - it was actually 2001 I first posted.

Can I have my anorak now please?

27 May 2002 for me (although I did lurk for a little time in the old forum),

And I've just looked up when Mark-RLBS upgraded my account to moderator, 21 Feb 2003 - has it really been that long? I was wondering what was causing my hair to thin and turn grey at an alarming rate.

I've only been at this malarky for a year but have to say a communal thanks to all. I've learned so much already and really enjoyed almost all of it.

Thank you 'room !

( just thought I'd bung in an apostrophe for those who like them. )

But I think I lurked for a air time before that!

Thanks for all the valuable advice you have so freely given - and all the interesting discussion. It's one of only 2 sites I regularly log on to (other one is Great War Forum 1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?
which seems to be populated by similarly helpful and knowledgable people)

Located my first post as being on a XUD/HDI thread in Mar 2001. Interesting becuse it's before the downsides of common rail came to the fore.

Some time now a member and scarcely a day goes by without my meander to HJ backroomland.

Some time ago, I remember a contributor - name of Sean - who it was rumoured, was high up in the VW hierarchy and knew everything VW - technical and other

I particularly remember one case where a poster had damaged his Golf (details escape me) and was going to make a warranty claim. 'Sean' stymied that and became quite irate as I recall.

Is he in our midst under another pseudonym ?

October 2001 - do I win the prize?!

No I have found a post of mine from 28/03/01 - albeit under my previous name of 'peter' with a lower case 'p'

Somebody stole the name when you had to reregister for mk2 Forum (I suspect it then became case sensitive on user names, since previously there was another 'Peter'.

Since then I have existed as pmh, pmh1, and now pmh2. all because I lost the passwords!
That is the problem when you use auto logon.

My five year anniversary comes up at the end of next month.

I wonder how many of us will still be here in another five year.

And what about another ten years after that? Or indeed will internet fora still exist then?

11th March 2001 under another name.

Think that puts me in the lead!
Having a Senior Moment! Seniority on this forum?? - Bromptonaut
FC we tie for that date!!!

I think our Senior Member is Cliff Pope who started a thread on 19/11/2000.
Having a Senior Moment! Seniority on this forum?? - Citroënian {P}
OK, last throw of the dice- I wrote HJ a letter to which I received a very useful and hand written reply, in March 1999.

Pre-backroom backroomer!!!

That's gotta clinch it.
Having a Senior Moment! Seniority on this forum?? - Dynamic Dave
As It's HJ's forum, doesn't that make him have seniority? Or am I being too logical?

Thought I would look around and do some research on the seniority of our mods(Do I get the impending feeling that this post may be edited/deleted/moderated!)

Anyways here goes ..

It appears that the mods are selected in crops , 3 from May 2002 ,one from August 2003

and one from Sept 2003,so thats a mod younger in order of appearance to me on this forum!

(Cant use the words junior/senior though!)

Welcome rtj70 to the timeconsuming job of keeping us regulars in check!!
Having a Senior Moment! Seniority on this forum?? - PoloGirl
There's loads of people from May 02, because that's when backroom v1 became Backroom v2.

I'm the one from August 03!
