I'm off to see Harry Hill's TV Burp being recorded tomorrow. Does anyone know if you can park near the studios at Teddington? (Broom Road).

Also, they state that they deliberately overbook by a significant amount. Studio doors open 18:30, free drinks from 17:30. Anyone ever been and can suggest what time I should plan to arrive? (Really not *that* bothered if I can't get in, but may as well go with the right intent).

I first saw HH doing stand up at the Fringe just before he came onto TV and he was brilliant. Never quite been the same since he got on the small screen...

When I took my elderly mother who could not walk very far to see Last of the summer wine the nice man on the gate said I could park in Benny Hills space as he would not be needing it that day (he had only recently died ).That was four to five years ago and parking in that area is very poor. You will need to get there at least an hour before and the que streched for yards and yards.

How time flies, my mums memory is better than mine she has just confirmned we went to Teddington studios at least 10 years ago as Compo was in it. Considering she is 82 years old she can recal memories that I have completely forgot about.

An engaging comedian with a naturally funny manner, and I can't remember him ever stooping to gross vulgarity, rudeness for the sake of it or any cruelty beyond the underlying cruelty in all humour, which people take in good part. He often makes me laugh but in a good-natured way.

I doubt if street parking will cost too much in Teddington. But I haven't been there for years, so don't know... sorry.

I admire what he (and his writers) have done with a formerly dead and buried tv format-
the clip show. I think his secret is to be just as funny- or funnier- with his quips as the clips he shows. Genius.

Smokie - you may be able to park in Ferry Road, just round the corner from the studios, or consider somewhere off the High Street.

Where are you coming from? You could consider parker the other side of the river and walking across the suspension bridge.

I used to live nearby, but it was a long time ago and the memory is fading!

Travelling from Wokingham - I presume up the M3 (not yet looked where Teddington is!!)

Thanks to all for advice so far...

From Wokingham you can get a train to Twickenham, and change there for Teddington. Might be more relaxed and perhaps you can visit one of Teddington's delightful pubs into the bargain.

And if you look at the studio website you'll see they do a shuttle to and fro to various places.

Good opportunity for a few drinks, I'd suggest!

Drove up there and back, 45 minutes each way (train time would have been around 1h 25 station to station). The road immediately outside the studio has double yellows, further along there is parking but it was full. So the next turning on the left has single yellows, with parking banned between 11:00 and 12:00 (or 12:00 and 13:00) - about 5 mins walk.

Arrived there around 16:45, queue already fairly long. We were numbers 51 & 52 (they give you numbered tickets - I didn't count!!). We were shuffled into a marquee where we hung around a while, and got give a Carlsberg. Eventually into the studio around 18:30 and the recording started at about 19:15. There was a compere kind of guy who was fairly funny, then they recorded the show - start to end was about 50 minutes non-stop, then a bit of a break then they re-did some links etc. Guess we were in there best part of two hours - it was great fun (and very interesting).

Would recommend it for a free night out...got the tickets through www.tvrecordings.com. Only warning- get there early as they do over commit, some people who had tickets were turned away, and that was after quite a bit of hanging around.

Thanks to all for advice.
