KIA Picanto (2004 - ) - Sump gasket failure - known issue or random?

Sump gasket failure - known issue or random? - stunorthants26
My misses Picanto has just today, sprung a leak from its sump gasket, the end thats bolted to gearbox. Is this a random act or is it known to happen.
I personally think its a bit early for such things, so could there be a cause other than simple failure? Its only 4 years old and 35k.
