Silicone Lubricating gel - where to purchase - Surrey_Scientist

Used to have a tube of silicone gel which was great for putting on seals - softennned them, often made them seal when they hadn't before, or lubricating plastic/ruber parts where WD40 would make them swell.

Lent it to someone at work who never gave it back, and has now left.....

Found this stuff really useful, haven't been able to locate it anywhere.

Halfords used todo it but havent for several years

Putting "SIlicone Lub. Gel" generates some "interesting" results on some how shall we say more "exotic" sites than motoring !!

Can anyone help me to locate a supplier (for automtive applications only I hasten to add !)

I used to use Slick50 silicone lubricant in small aerosol form (it's a "dry" lubricant and doesn't stain, so ideal for car door locks etc), but doesn't seem to be around any more; it only cost around £1.70.

However, I've since discovered a similar product, Rapide EasyGrease, which I buy from a local electrical shop at £1.50 for a 200ml aerosol.

Rapide is based in Phoenix Road, Hawks Green Lane, Cannock, Staffs.

I got a spray tin of silicone grease from Maplins.
Thin when it comes out, but thickens in a minute or so.
I gunge up all the multi connectors on the bikes with it to keep the damp out.

Abbey Supply Co sell white silicone grease for lubricating seals on air rifles - they did 1 oz/25 gram tuibs of the stuff when I bought some a few years back.

Their website , abbeysupply.com, has a 'find a stockist' tab, though I guess most gunshops will have some.
