1994 2.7 - boost level - track
Hi, Im trying to find out what the correct boost level is on a 1994 nissan terrano 2.7 turbo diesel. The vehicle has had the actuator renewed and seems sluggish. We have a boost guage set up and its only giving 3psi, what should it be from factory so we can set it up please.

I can't find any reference to the boost pressure in any of my sources [got everything else.]

It's going to be a lot more than 3 lbf/sq/in. Try at least 1 bar for starters - diesels use more boost than petrols do.

most common faults on terano's are air flow meters & blocked inlet filter in diesel pump. If the fuelling isn't correct the boost won't be iether. I think if you go to some nissan web sites there will be plenty to read on AFM's & I gather they are dear.
In the diesel pump under the inlet banjo there is a micro filter, worth hooking it out with a small pick. Keep the area very clean when you reasemble.
A blocked filter normally gives you very little boost & when they get very bad the engine tends to give a very light blue haze when reved that smells a little acrid.

its ok now, my friend the owner managed to get the correct boost level from a nissan dealer and has now set the actuator correctly. The vehicle now runs better than ever.
