2000 1.9 Audi A4 Airbag Warning Light - as003
Hi, Does anyone know why my A4 has started to show the AIrbag warning light on the dash board? Really rather annoying!

It's showing because the system has detected a fault (sorry if that's stating the obvious)

It needs putting on a code reader to diagnose what part of the system is at fault.

While it's illuminated your airbag system will be inoperative, so best to get it looked at ASAP.

The very common reason for this is that you've dislodged the connector under one of the seats.

Ok your are talking to a woman here.. where are the censors under the seats of the audi A4 for the warning light? What do they look like and what can I do to stop the warning light coming on or is this an Audi dealer thing...which I aviod normally.

They are not sensors - it is the electrical connector. Fastened to the underside of the seat is a small (yellow I think) electrical connector. It is quite easy for the wire to be pulled out.

If you raise the seat to its highest position and look under the seat then you should see. I honestly can't remember if the light goes off immediately or if it needs plugging in to a diag machine to reset.

Of course you may have a genuine problem but if it is the connector it is easy to see/fix. Don't touch anything to do with the airbags while the ignition is on.

I'd leave airbags to a professional - doesn't have to be a dealer.

They're explosives and too many have died already fiddling with them - without following the correct disarming procedure.

No seat pretensioners on these - they're built into the reels; so the only seat wiring is to the sidebags and the botty sensor.
